Possibility for return
Bittencourt (thigh) is likely to return in Saturday's match against Dortmund, according to manager Daniel Thioune. "Leo will return to the squad tomorrow. The squad constellation exists here. Without team training, we have to see how much is enough for him. But it will be a worthy setting for him, in a home game against BVB, where he also took his first steps. Tomorrow, the focus is on saying goodbye to him in a dignified setting. It was important to us that we take him with us on the trip at the end of the season and that he would not leave us through the back door."
Analysis: Bittencourt was possibly eyeing an end to his career with Bremen from the sidelines, but should now return for the season finale, as the club wants to give him a good send-off. That said, his exact role is likely to be up in the air, as after an injury, they will be cautious. He hopes his final cap with the team is from the starting XI, although with only five starts in 16 appearances this season, that is unlikely, probable to get time from the bench later in the contest.
Possibly out for season
Bittencourt (thigh) could return against Dortmund on the final matchday, but remains questionable to return this season, according to manager Daniel Thioune, per Malik Hanke of Deichstube. "With Leo with his muscle injury, it will be a race. But we all set ourselves the goal of the Dortmund game. We'll have to see if he can do it."
Analysis: Bittencourt is looking more and more unlikely to see the field again this season due to a thigh injury, as he is now in question to even make it to the season finale. This will be a rough absence for the club, as even though they seem to be safe from relegation, the midfielder has started in four of their past six games. That said, even if he returns, he will be unlikely to start, leaving Jens Stage, Cameron Puertas and Senne Lynen to start in the midfield.
Clears ban, remains doubtful
Bittencourt is no longer suspended, but his status is now uncertain due to the thigh injury he suffered in training on April 22.
Analysis: Bittencourt will continue to work on his recovery while he looks to be an option at some point in the last few weeks of the campaign. The midfielder has recorded one assist along with five shots, three chances created, 11 tackles and eight clearances across 416 minutes of play in 2026. If he's not ready to play, his spot could continue to be filled by Cameron Puertas.
Suspends training
Bittencourt was not in training Wednesday due to a thigh injury, according to his club.
Analysis: Bittencourt is already suspended this week due to yellow card accumulation, but seems to be facing a bigger threat now, as the midfielder was unable to train due to injury. This will be something to monitor as he gets testing done on the injury, hopefully only a cautious approach, seeing he is out this week either way. The club sits just ahead of the relegation playoffs, so they will hope to have all units available for the final stretch.
