Germán Valera
Credited with assist in loss
Valera assisted once to go with five crosses (one accurate) and two chances created in Tuesday's 2-1 loss versus Betis. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 99th minute.
Analysis: Valera was credited with the assist on the goal scored by Hector Fort in the first half. The wing-back should have most of his upside via defensive stats, but his attacking movements give him decent upside in most formats. He has four goals and five assists on the season, which are impressive numbers for a wing-back.
Option again
Valera has cleared his suspension and is an option moving forward.
Analysis: Valera is back as an option after he earned a red card last time out, ending his time on the sidelines. The midfielder has only missed three starts that he has been an option for all season, and remains a crucial piece of the midfield, registering four goals and four assists this season.
Sent off in victory
Valera received a red card as a substitute during Sunday's 2-1 win over Oviedo.
Analysis: Valera barely made an impact before being sent off for a late foul Sunday. The wide midfielder is now ineligible for the upcoming visit to Celta and could bounce back for a May 9 clash with Alaves. He was a regular starter prior to the last game, featuring most often on the left flank, but that spot may be taken by either Adria Pedrosa or Leo Petrot in the suspension game.
Strong in service
Valera generated one shot (zero on goal), eight crosses (three accurate) and five corners in Wednesday's 3-2 win against Atletico Madrid.
Analysis: Though Valera was not able to get an assist, he was Elche's best crosser by far and had plenty of corners as well. If he keeps this up against an Oviedo team which has allowed 48 goals in 31 La Liga games, he should be able to get an assist or two.
