Nets equalizer on Wednesday
Lod scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) and one chance created in Wednesday's 3-1 victory against D.C. United.
Analysis: Lod headed in the equalizer, assisted by Philip Zinckernagel's brilliant cross in the 62nd minute. Lod recorded six passes and also made a tackle. This was his first goal since March, and he has only scored twice this campaign.
Back in starting XI midweek
Lod (face) is in the starting lineup for Wednesday's visit to D.C. United.
Analysis: Lod is ready to play following a one-game absence, and he'll replace Maren Haile-Selassie in an attacking midfield slot in the initial lineup. The 33-year-old is still looking to end an eight-game unproductive streak in terms of goals or assists in league play, but he could be a decent threat for a Chicago side that scored multiple goals in three of its last four MLS matches.
Training with mask
Lod (face) is back in training, wearing a mask, according to Joe Chatz of On Tap Sports.
Analysis: Lod missed out last week after he suffered a facial fracture that required some stiches but is already in training again, as the attacker wore a mask to participate. This does put a return on the horizon for him, although he will have to get comfortable wearing the mask. He has started in seven of his 10 appearances this season while bagging a goal, but his play could be hindered due to the mask, something that has affected players in the past.
Set for absence
Lod (face) won't play Saturday against New York Red Bulls, as coach Gregg Berhalter mentioned "Robin's out. He has a couple of facial fractures, a couple of stitches, some eye damage. He's gonna be out".
Analysis: Lod hasn't trained since leaving the May 3 matchup versus Cincinnati due to the issue, and it's unclear when he'll be available again. Chicago will be without him for the first time this year, and they could turn to an attacking midfield line made up of Maren Haile-Selassie, Jonathan Bamba and Philip Zinckernagel in upcoming contests. The Finland international, who has scored one goal over 10 MLS matches played in 2026, might have limited opportunities to produce before the World Cup break as he continues to deal with his face injuries.
Not in training Thursday
Lod (face) wasn't spotted in training Thursday, according to Joe Chatz of On Tap Sports.
Analysis: Lod exited the previous match against Cincinnati in the second half after taking a foot to the face, and it's unclear whether he'll be able to play over the weekend. The fact that he wasn't training Thursday suggests his chances of playing are slim to none, and if that's the case, Maren Haile-Selassie could take his place in the lineup.
Comes off injured
Lod (face) was injured and subbed out in the 59th minute of Saturday's 3-2 loss to FC Cincinnati.
Analysis: Lod took a foot to the face and was forced off in the 59th minute with a bloody face. He's started six of the last seven games for Chicago, creating 10 chances with 14 tackles in that span. The midfielder will be day to day heading to the clash with RBNY on Saturday, pending on his facial injury.
